Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) has announced that private schools in Abu Dhabi will reduce the length of their school timings to five hours throughout the Holy Month of Ramadan effective upon students returning from spring break until Eid Al-Fitr.

ADEK said it has sent the schools a set of guidelines regarding Ramadan timings which will go into effect immediately from Sunday, March 28 and continue till April 8.

“The school cannot start before 9.30am and must end the school day before or at 3.30pm,” ADEK said in a statement.

”Each school is expected to cover the full content of the core subjects during those hours, and to consult with parents while selecting the appropriate schedule.”

ADEK had also announced that the hybrid model of learning, combining both distance education and in-person classes, will continue during the third semester and maybe till next year in hopes student will return to classes in September.

The Holy Month is expected to begin on Monday, April 12, or Tuesday, April 13, depending on the moon sighting.
