UAE Announces Ramadan Working Hours for Federal Employees

UAE's Federal Authority for Government Human Resources (FAHR) has announced the working hours for federal entities during the holy month of Ramadan.

Employees at ministries and federal agencies will work five and a half hours from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. from Monday to Thursday during the month.
On Fridays, the working hours will be reduced to only three hours from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Saturdays and Sundays are the official weekends for the federal government sector.
FAHR added that ministries and federal authorities could also implement remote work systems during the holy month in line with their specific requirements.
The holy month of Ramadan is expected to start on March 23 and end on April 21. The dates are subject to change on the basis of moon sightings.
UAE is currently adopting a four-and-a-half-day working week, which got into force on January 1st, 2022, with Monday to Thursday workdays starting at 7:30 a.m. and ending at 3:30 p.m., and Friday working hours from 7:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
The UAE became the first country in the world to officially implement a national working week shorter than the global five-day week and shift to a longer weekend.
