According to Abu Dhabi Police, it stated that residents will be forced to pay a fine of Dh400 for breaking the law by crossing busy streets and highways instead of using designated pedestrian crossings like footbridges and zebra crossings, which is known as jaywalking.
Abu Dhabi Police have initiated an awareness campaign aimed at reducing incidents of jaywalking, which includes a video posted on social media emphasizing the risks associated with pedestrians crossing roads from non-designated areas. The campaign's primary objective is to improve the safety of both pedestrians and drivers.

The Director of the Traffic and Patrol Directorate for the Central Operations Sector, General Mahmoud Youssef Al-Balushi, has expressed Abu Dhabi Police's commitment to conducting on-site initiatives to educate pedestrians on the proper way to cross the road and follow pedestrian signals.
The police aim to increase awareness among pedestrians to ensure their safety on the roads.
According to General Mahmoud Youssef Al-Balushi, the on-site campaign being carried out by Abu Dhabi Police will involve distributing informational leaflets in Arabic, English, and Urdu languages.
These leaflets aim to educate pedestrians about safe crossing procedures and the proper locations to cross, such as tunnels, bridges, and pedestrian lines.
