Dubai has taken another big step towards its air taxi launch, with the city’s first vertiport now officially approved for operations.

The new hub is located near Dubai International Airport and has received regulatory certification. This is an important milestone for Dubai’s future air taxi service. Once fully open, the site is expected to serve up to 170,000 passengers a year.

The 3,100-square-metre vertiport is built for electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft. It includes two take-off and landing pads. This location will act as the main hub in Dubai’s planned air taxi network.

More vertiports are also being developed across the city. Construction is already underway at Dubai Marina, while Dubai Mall and Palm Jumeirah are also planned as part of the wider rollout.

Dubai has said it plans to start commercial air taxi services before the end of 2026. The new service is expected to offer a faster way to travel between key areas in the city.
