Etihad Rail has officially launched an integrated mobility strategy designed to ensure passenger journeys do not end at the train platform. As part of this initiative, a new AED10 shuttle bus service is now operational, connecting the Mohamed bin Zayed City station to key destinations across the capital.

The new shuttle route serves major commercial and entertainment hubs, including ADNOC's headquarters on Corniche Road West, the ADNEC Centre, and Reem Mall. Travelers can book these services conveniently through the Etihad Rail app or via the official website.

This launch marks a significant step in the carrier's "onward-travel" push, which aims to create a seamless transport ecosystem. At the other end of the network, Fujairah station is set to open with a comprehensive suite of ground transport options from day one. These include an on-site rental car desk, dedicated taxi ranks, e-hailing pick-up points, and direct bus connections.

Adhraa Almansoori, Executive Director of Commercial at Etihad Rail Mobility, emphasized the strategic coordination behind these services during the carrier's first passenger media briefing held earlier this year in Sharjah.

"We are coordinating directly with public transport authorities on bus and taxi scheduling around train arrivals and departures," Almansoori said. "Our goal is to ensure that passengers without their own vehicles at either end are never left stranded."

Beyond Transportation: A Tourism Push

The infrastructure investment extends beyond simple connectivity into tourism planning. According to Almansoori, discussions with tourism authorities regarding bundled train-and-hotel packages are already underway. Describing the integration as essential rather than optional, she stated, "It's not an option. It's a must."

To enhance the passenger experience further, station staff across the network are being briefed to act as local guides, recommending restaurants and activities for travelers who have spare time before their return journeys. This approach reflects a broader vision where stations become economic hubs; new roles such as "station host" and "station master" have been created to facilitate this, while early interest from retailers and restaurateurs looking to establish venues near the new stations signals potential economic spillover effects.

The rollout of these shuttle services and support systems comes as Etihad Rail prepares to expand its footprint, with expectations that more rental car partners will be announced across the wider network in the coming months.
