Former Dubai-based businessman, Shafi Kurunthottikandi, and his wife, Seniya, got kidnapped in Kerala, India on Friday, April 7th, Indian media outlets reported.

An unidentified gang of four abducted the couple from their house in Thamarassery on Friday at 9 pm. Two people have been taken into custody in connection with the incident.

Reports added that the kidnapping is related to a financial dispute with a Koduvally-based man.

However, Seniya was later dropped off on the way as the kidnappers were unable to lock the car's door, but the gang took away the husband and fled from the place.

Seniya sustained minor injuries on her head and neck. She sought treatment at the Thamarassery Taluk Hospital.

Shafi is running a business in Dubai and was working there, but he returned home a year ago.
