Nine men are now standing trial in the UAE after being accused of forming an organized gang that kidnapped and assaulted a man over a financial dispute. The case came to light when the victim reported the incident through the Public Prosecution’s digital platform, “My Safe Society.”
Authorities say the group not only kidnapped the man but also tied him up, filmed him naked, and tried to extort money from his family using the footage.
How They Were Caught
After the report was filed, investigators immediately got to work—gathering evidence, tracking down the suspects, and seizing the tools used in the crime. It didn’t take long before the nine were identified and arrested.
Prosecutors said the men’s coordinated actions put state security and social peace at risk, classifying them as an organized criminal gang.
The Charges They Face
The crimes are severe—kidnapping, assault, blackmail, and threatening national security. That means the defendants could face life imprisonment or even the death penalty if found guilty.
UAE Attorney General Dr. Hamad Saif Al Shamsi emphasized that the country has zero tolerance for crimes that endanger public safety, stressing that the law will be applied firmly and fairly to protect citizens and residents alike.
