Dubai’s biggest annual cycling event is back this weekend, and with it comes a few temporary road closures you’ll want to know about. The Dubai Ride is kicking off the Dubai Fitness Challenge 2025, bringing thousands of cyclists to the streets to pedal past the city’s most iconic landmarks.

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) confirmed that on Sunday, November 2, several roads will be closed from 3 AM to 10 AM to make way for the riders.

Roads Closed This Sunday
Here’s where you can expect delays or detours:

  • Sheikh Zayed Road (between Trade Centre Roundabout and Al Hadiqa Road Bridge)

  • Lower Financial Centre Street (between Sheikh Zayed Road and Al Khail Road)

  • One-way direction of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard

If you’re heading out early, best to avoid these areas and use these alternative routes instead:
Upper Financial Centre Street, Zabeel Palace Road, Al Wasl Road, Al Khail Road, and Al Asayel Street.

Bigger Turnout Expected This Year
Last year saw over 35,000 participants, and this year’s event is set to be even bigger. Riders can choose between a 4km family route or a 12km advanced route, so whether you’re a casual cyclist or a seasoned pro, there’s room for everyone.

The Start of a 30-Day Fitness Movement
The Dubai Ride marks the official start of the Dubai Fitness Challenge, launched in 2017 by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai. The citywide initiative encourages everyone to stay active for 30 minutes a day for 30 days—with plenty of free events and workouts to join across the city.
