The UAE just pulled off something massive — the first-ever 6G Terahertz test in the Middle East, and it wasn’t just successful, it was record-breaking. e& UAE teamed up with NYU Abu Dhabi to hit an insane 145 gigabits per second (Gbps), pushing the limits of what’s possible in mobile connectivity.

This milestone isn’t just about speed. It’s a step toward what the next generation of the internet will look like: smarter, faster, and almost futuristic.

What Makes 6G a Big Deal?

Imagine holographic video calls, self-driving cars reacting instantly, or entire cities communicating seamlessly — that’s the 6G vision. The technology promises lightning-fast connections, almost zero lag, and networks that can “think” and adapt in real time.

Masood M. Sharif Mahmood, CEO of e& UAE, explained that 6G isn’t just a speed competition — it’s about resilience and intelligence. “The network itself becomes more perceptive and secure,” he said, describing it as “sovereign by design.”

Smarter, Safer, and Everywhere

6G will bring built-in radar-level sensing, so devices can detect their surroundings down to the centimeter. Security will level up too, using post-quantum protection to keep national systems safe. Plus, computing power will move closer to where data is generated — meaning faster and more reliable performance for everything connected.

Marwan Bin Shaker, Acting CTO of e& UAE, said their collaboration with NYU Abu Dhabi shows how industry and academia can shape the future together. “We’re reimagining how people, businesses, and cities connect,” he added.
