The United Arab Emirates has strongly condemned a drone attack that targeted a logistics support base affiliated with the United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA) in the city of Kadugli, Sudan, resulting in multiple deaths and injuries among peacekeepers.

According to an official statement, the attack killed and wounded a number of members of the Bangladeshi battalion serving with the UN peacekeeping mission. The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs described the incident as a “heinous attack” and reaffirmed the country’s firm rejection of all forms of violence that threaten security and stability.

The Ministry stressed that attacks targeting peacekeeping forces violate international law and United Nations Security Council Resolution 2802, underscoring the UAE’s strong condemnation of any actions aimed at undermining UN missions.

In its statement, the Ministry expressed the UAE’s full solidarity with the United Nations peacekeeping forces and with all countries contributing troops to international missions. It also extended sincere condolences and sympathies to the families of the victims, the interim government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, the Bangladeshi people, and the United Nations, while wishing a speedy recovery to those injured.

The UAE reiterated its continued support for international efforts to maintain peace and stability and protect peacekeeping personnel operating in conflict zones.
