The UAE has extended its heartfelt condolences to Bangladesh following a devastating military jet crash that killed at least 27 people — most of them schoolchildren — in Dhaka on Monday.

The tragic incident unfolded when an F-7 BGI training aircraft belonging to the Bangladesh Air Force suffered a mechanical failure shortly after takeoff. Despite the pilot’s attempts to divert the aircraft, it crashed into a two-storey school and college building on campus, leading to catastrophic casualties. Among the victims was the pilot, with 88 others rushed to the hospital for treatment.

In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the UAE expressed its sincere sympathy to the families of the victims, the interim government, and the people of Bangladesh. The ministry also wished a speedy recovery to those injured in the crash.

“The UAE stands in solidarity with Bangladesh during this painful time,” the ministry noted, as the death toll continues to send shockwaves across the region.

The tragedy has sparked grief nationwide and internationally, as the majority of those killed were children attending classes when the crash occurred.

As Bangladesh continues emergency efforts and investigations into the crash, the global community — including the UAE — has voiced its support, calling for strength and healing for the families affected by the heartbreaking loss.
