An 18-year-old Emirati student has died in a road accident while traveling to sit for his final end-of-year examinations, just days before his scheduled high school graduation.
The incident occurred Thursday morning in the Al Ghail area of Ras Al Khaimah. The student, identified as Salem, was a passenger in a vehicle driven by a classmate and close friend. According to family members, their car collided with a truck that suddenly appeared in their path, leaving the driver with insufficient time to react despite attempts to swerve.
Salem did not survive the crash. His friend, who was driving the vehicle, sustained injuries and is currently receiving medical treatment at a local hospital.
Salem’s father described his son as ambitious and eager to pursue higher education after completing his secondary studies. The family noted that Salem had been looking forward to his upcoming graduation ceremony and the start of his university journey.
In the wake of the tragedy, the family has received an outpouring of support from residents across Ras Al Khaimah and other emirates. They have expressed gratitude for the community’s condolences and for the swift assistance provided by local authorities in handling the aftermath of the accident.
Investigations into the cause of the collision are ongoing.
