The UAE has officially summoned the Israeli ambassador following what it described as repeated and provocative actions against Palestinians in Jerusalem’s Al-Aqsa Mosque compound and the Muslim Quarter of the Old City.
Urgent Call to Prevent Escalation
In a strong statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the incidents were a clear violation of the sanctity of the holy city and dangerous provocation towards Muslims. The UAE urged Israel to take full responsibility and immediately act to stop such actions from being used to stir violence and extremism.
The UAE stressed that officials involved should be held accountable, including those in authority who allow or contribute to these acts.

Focus Should Be on Ending the War in Gaza
The Ministry highlighted the need to avoid any further escalation, especially at a time when attention should be on ending the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. It warned that inflaming tensions in Jerusalem only makes the situation worse.
Respect for Jordan’s Role Over Holy Sites
The UAE also emphasized the importance of respecting Jordan’s custodianship over Islamic holy sites in Jerusalem, in line with international law and long-standing agreements. This includes support for the Jerusalem Endowment Administration, which oversees Al-Aqsa Mosque and its surrounding areas.
The statement closed with a reminder that maintaining peace and avoiding religious provocation is crucial to regional stability.
