Discussions on dating behaviour are often more about cultural norms than one’s lived reality. It's slowly changing, but there are still stereotypes even now around women who date around with no desire for a long-term relationship. Unfortunately, such views are based on cultural norms, personal experience and values oriented toward commitment over and above reality. To bring these perspectives to light is not to espouse them. Instead, it helps explain how concepts related to trust, values, and emotional security in today's relationships shape attitudes towards casual dating.
