Ferrari Signs Multi-Year Deal with Charles Leclerc

Ferrari has officially announced a new multi-year agreement with Charles Leclerc, securing the Monegasque driver's future with the Scuderia for the "coming seasons." The deal solidifies a decade-long relationship between the team and the 28-year-old, who first joined the Ferrari Driver Academy in 2016 before making his Formula 1 debut with Sauber in 2018.

Since joining the team for the 2019 campaign, Leclerc has become a cornerstone of the squad, delivering memorable victories for the tifosi. His tenure includes historic wins at Monza in 2019 and 2024, as well as an emotional home triumph in Monaco in 2024. Currently, Leclerc ranks second on the list of most appearances for Ferrari, trailing only the legendary Michael Schumacher.

A Shared Dream

Speaking on the renewal, Leclerc expressed deep gratitude and commitment to the team that has been his childhood dream.

"It has always been so much more than just a team to me," Leclerc said. "It's the team I've loved and dreamt of being part of since I was a child, and after all these years it has become a second family."

He acknowledged the highs and lows of their journey together but emphasized his unwavering belief in the project. "I believe in this team more than ever, and I'm deeply grateful that we will keep pushing side by side toward our shared goal of bringing the World Championship back to Maranello."

Leclerc further noted that driving for Ferrari is both a dream and a profound responsibility. "I'll continue to give absolutely everything I have to bring this team back to where it belongs, at the very top, for everyone in Maranello, and above all for the tifosi, whose passion is the heartbeat of this Scuderia."

Team Principal's Endorsement

Ferrari Team Principal Fred Vasseur described the renewal as a "very natural" progression for the organization.

"Charles has been part of the Ferrari family for many years now," Vasseur stated. "Over these seasons we have seen him grow, to become not only one of the strongest drivers in Formula 1, but also a person who is completely at one with the team and everything Ferrari represents."

Vasseur highlighted Leclerc's talent, determination, and collaborative spirit both on and off the track. "We appreciate his talent, we love his determination and the way he approaches every day with the people in the Scuderia... We know how much this project means to him and we are happy to continue working towards our shared goals."

Focus on Monaco

The announcement comes just ahead of Leclerc's home race in Monaco this weekend. Despite Mercedes dominating the first half of the season with victories in every Grand Prix, expectations are high for Ferrari in the Principality. The circuit's low-speed bends and street nature are believed to favor Ferrari's car characteristics, while the lack of high-speed straights may diminish the advantage of the Mercedes power unit.

Championship leader Kimi Antonelli has already identified Ferrari as the "team to beat" in Monaco, anticipating strong challenges from both Leclerc and teammate Lewis Hamilton. A victory in Monaco would serve as a significant morale booster for the team, acting as a perfect counterpoint to Leclerc's description of the recent Canadian Grand Prix as the "most difficult weekend" of his career.
