Planning next year’s holidays already? You should—because if you play your cards right, you can stretch just 10 days of annual leave into 36 days off in 2026. Yup, more long weekends, more quick getaways, and more time to do absolutely nothing (the dream).

Under UAE labour law, employees with over a year in their company get 30 days of paid annual leave, plus fully paid public holidays. And with most holidays movable (depending on moon sightings), the trick is knowing when to file that leave request early—before your coworkers do.

Here’s your cheat sheet for 2026.

New Year: 4 Days Off Using 1 Day

Public holiday: Thursday, January 1
Book off: Friday, January 2

That’s a four-day weekend to kick off the year strong—or just sleep through it guilt-free.

Eid Al Fitr: 5 Days Off Using 2 Days

Predicted holiday: Friday, March 20 to Sunday, March 22
Book off: Thursday, March 19 and Monday, March 23

You’ll land a five-day break, perfect for travel or bingeing that series you’ve been “saving.”

Arafat Day & Eid Al Adha: 9 Days Off Using 1 Day

Expected holiday: Tuesday, May 26 to Friday, May 29
Book off: Monday, May 25

With just one leave day, you could score a nine-day break. That’s practically a mini vacation.

Islamic New Year: 4 Days Off Using 1 Day

Predicted holiday: Monday, June 15
Book off: Friday, June 12

Prophet Muhammad’s Birthday: 5 Days Off Using 2 Days

Expected holiday: Monday, August 24 (official day may shift to Tuesday, August 25)
