One person has been killed in the Baniyas area of Abu Dhabi after debris from an intercepted missile fell earlier on Tuesday morning, March 17, authorities confirmed.

In an official statement shared on X, the Abu Dhabi Media Office said that emergency teams responded swiftly to the incident, which occurred after air defence systems successfully intercepted a ballistic missile.
“Abu Dhabi authorities have responded to an incident involving falling debris in the Baniyas area, following the interception of a ballistic missile by air defence systems. The incident resulted in the death of a Pakistani national,” the statement read.
The incident highlights the potential risks posed by falling debris even when aerial threats are neutralised before reaching their intended targets.
