Louvre Abu Dhabi has opened Picasso, the Figure, a major monographic exhibition dedicated to one of the most influential artists of the 20th century, Pablo Picasso. The exhibition runs from January 21 to May 31, 2026, offering visitors a rare and comprehensive look at the artist’s enduring engagement with the human form.
Organised in collaboration with the Musée national Picasso-Paris and France Muséums, Picasso, the Figure traces Picasso’s evolving portrayal of the figure across his prolific career, from early explorations to his later innovative works that reshaped modern art.
The showcased works encompass a broad range of mediums, including painting, drawing, and sculpture, highlighting the artist’s relentless experimentation with shape, expression, and form. Key pieces on display include landmark artworks drawn from international collections and loans from major institutions, offering insight into the styles and themes that defined Picasso’s artistic evolution.
Beyond Picasso’s own works, the exhibition also reflects on the artist’s influence and dialogues with regional artistic traditions, further enriching the cultural exchange central to Louvre Abu Dhabi’s mission.
In addition to the exhibition itself, the museum is hosting curators’ talks and related programs, connecting audiences with deeper explorations of Picasso’s methods and artistic legacy.
Picasso, the Figure represents a cornerstone of Louvre Abu Dhabi’s 2025-2026 season, underscoring the institution’s commitment to presenting world-class cultural experiences and fostering cross-cultural appreciation through art.
