Samosa makes a scrumptious snack for iftar when served with green chutney or tamarind sauce. It is a popular snack in the Indian subcontinent, but it also has different versions popular in South Asia, the Middle East, and East Africa.

Samosa Ingredients

Pastry for samosa
4 potatoes, boiled and mashed
1/2 cup green peas
1 tbsp oil
1 tbsp ginger, grated
2 green chillies, finely chopped
1 pinch hing
4 tbsp coriander leaves
1 tsp lemon juice
1/2 tsp salt

Spices for Samosa

3/4 tsp cumin powder
1 tsp garam masala
3/4 tsp red chilli powder

  1. Make Potato Filling

    Heat oil in a pan and add carrom seeds. After that, add green chilli and ginger and saute until the ginger effuses an aromatic smell. Add green peas and saute for 2 minutes before adding red chilli powder, garam masala, and cumin powder. Mix spices properly with peas, then add potatoes and cook for 2 to 3 minutes. Stir in salt and coriander leaves and cook until everything is properly blended and properly cooked. Remove from heat and let the potatoes cool. Pour in lemon juice and stir in properly.
  2. Stuff Pastry With Filling

    Make a cone out of a pastry sheet and stuff it with potato filling. Brush the open edges with water and seal together. Repeat the procedure with the rest of the pastry and filling.
  3. Fry Samosas

    Heat oil in a pan till it sizzles, then add samosas to it. Fry samosas properly until they are golden on both sides and then remove from pan.
  4. Serve

    Serve samosas warm with green chutney or tamarind sauce.
