UAE's Education Ministry Denies Reports of Distance Learning Extension

The UAE Ministry of Education has firmly denied circulating social media claims suggesting that distance learning would be extended until May 1, 2026. In a clear statement, the ministry confirmed that no such decision has been issued and that current academic schedules remain unchanged.

The ministry emphasized that all official updates regarding the academic system will be communicated exclusively through its verified platforms, urging parents, students, and staff to disregard unverified rumors. "Current schedules remain unchanged," the statement read, reinforcing the April 17 deadline as the current operational limit.

On March 30, officials had previously confirmed that distance learning was extended until Friday, April 17, for students, teachers, and administrative staff across all nurseries, kindergartens, and public and private schools nationwide. This extension was implemented to prioritize the safety and wellbeing of the school community amid evolving regional conditions.

The ministry noted that the situation is under constant review on a weekly basis. Consequently, the April 17 deadline could be adjusted in the future depending on new developments, but no decision to extend the term to May has been made at this time.

Distance learning was first introduced on March 2, following an early spring break prompted by regional tensions. The arrangement was subsequently extended into Term 3 on March 23. Since then, the education system has operated entirely online, with students and staff connecting from various locations, including overseas, to ensure continuity of education.

The rapid spread of misinformation on social media regarding the academic calendar highlights the importance of relying on official government channels for accurate information. The Ministry of Education continues to monitor the situation closely to ensure the safety of all stakeholders while maintaining the integrity of the academic year.
