A second vessel has been struck in the Arabian Gulf on Wednesday morning, according to the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO).
The maritime agency reported that the incident involved a bulk carrier located about 50 nautical miles north of Dubai, where the ship’s captain said the vessel had been hit by an unknown projectile.
In a statement, UKMTO said the situation is currently under investigation and confirmed that all crew members onboard the ship were safe.
“The crew is reported safe and well. Authorities are investigating,” the agency said in an update.
The incident follows another maritime strike reported earlier the same day in the Strait of Hormuz, where a cargo vessel caught fire after being struck.
Maritime authorities have not released the names of either vessel involved in the incidents.
The Strait of Hormuz and the Arabian Gulf are among the world’s most critical maritime corridors, with a large share of global oil shipments passing through the region each day. Shipping agencies have advised vessels operating in the area to remain vigilant while authorities continue to monitor the situation.
