US President Trump Arrives in Abu Dhabi

Former U.S. President Donald Trump receives a warm welcome in Abu Dhabi, meeting with UAE leadership for high-level talks and a state ceremony.

US President Trump Arrives in Abu Dhabi

US President Donald Trump arrived in Abu Dhabi, UAE, on Thursday, May 15, to a warm welcome. 

UAE's President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed received the American president. A young Emirati girl gave President Trump a bouquet during this welcome. 

President Trump was later escorted through a ceremonial walkway flanked by flags and Emirati guards. The path led to the reception area, where two chairs were placed for the two leaders.

The Emirati delegation included the following:

  • Deputy Ruler of Abu Dhabi and National Security Adviser, Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed 
  • Minister of Foreign Affairs and Deputy Prime Minister, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed
  • Advisor to the President, Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Tahnoon
  • Chairman of the President's Office for Strategic Affairs and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Office, Dr Ahmed Mubarak Al Mazrouei
  • Chairman of the Executive Affairs Authority, Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak
  • UAE Ambassador to the US, Yousef Al Otaiba

The plane carrying the US President was escorted by a squadron of military aircraft to the Presidential Airport. 

President Trump's Schedule

The US President was driven through Abu Dhabi in a Cadillac One, followed by UAE security. He is visiting the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque and after a short trip to the hotel, he will visit the Qasr Al Watan, the presidential palace. 

The US President will be welcomed at the palace with an official ceremony and honor guard, following which he will lead bilateral talks, and attend a state dinner hosted by the UAE President. 

President Trump is the first US president in nearly 30 years to visit the UAE.
