What Happened at the Cannes Film Festival Opening Ceremony?

The 77th edition of the Cannes Film Festival opened with a bang! 

The festival opened with the screening of the French film 'The Second Act' and the cast of the film graced the red carpet in Cannes, France on Tuesday, May 14. 


The jury members of the Cannes Film Festival also walked the red carpet during the opening ceremony including Barbie director Greta Gerwig, Nadine Labaki, Lily Gladstone, and Eva Greene. 


 The Camera d'Or Jury members also attended the opening ceremony, including Pascal Buron, Zoe Wittock, Baloji, Emmanuelle Béart, Gilles Porte, and Nathalie Chifflet.

Hollywood icon Meryl Streep also attended the opening ceremony of the film festival. The star was honored with an honorary Palme d’Or for her amazing work spanning over six decades!

The opening ceremony also welcomed the magnificent French actress Juliette Binoche who gave Meryl Streep her honorary Palme d’Or.
