Abu Dhabi Police have officially rolled out their security and traffic management plan for New Year’s Eve 2026, confirming a coordinated operational strategy to safeguard celebrations across the emirate.
The initiative, developed in cooperation with strategic partners, aims to protect residents and tourists while managing heavy traffic expected during year-end events.
Brigadier Mohammed Dahy Al-Hamiri, head of the Central Operations Sector, stated that an integrated security framework is now in place, covering key celebration zones, shopping areas, tourist hotspots and major road networks. The approach prioritizes public safety, crowd control and seamless event operations, ensuring celebrants can welcome the new year safely.
Traffic management forms a central pillar of the plan. The Traffic Directorate and Security Patrols have enhanced safety protocols, placing special emphasis on responsible road use. Motorists are being urged to follow speed limits, avoid phone distractions and maintain safe distances. Authorities issued warnings against unsafe behavior, including reckless driving, excessive noise and the use of party sprays.
The goal, officials emphasized, is to create a secure and festive environment where families and visitors can enjoy year-end celebrations with confidence. The campaign also reinforces the UAE’s commitment to balancing public enjoyment with civic responsibility.
In preparation for the event, the Command and Control Center at the Operations Department has completed final readiness procedures. Colonel Ali Muftah Al-Oraimi highlighted the deployment of advanced systems, trained personnel and modern monitoring equipment in the Operations Room. He reminded the public that emergency support is available around the clock through the 999 hotline, ensuring rapid response throughout New Year’s activities.
Abu Dhabi is expected to host thousands of spectators across its landmarks this year, with authorities encouraging residents to cooperate with safety guidelines for a smooth and secure welcome to 2026.
