The long wait is over, and the holy month of Ramadan has finally come to award us with its generosity, empathy, and blessings. The Islamic Nation worldwide has started the first day of fasting, for it being one of the most significant religious rituals associated with the month of Ramadan, which started last week.

Despite the restrictions that are still imposed in many countries due to the Pandemic, that didn’t stop the worshippers from celebrating and committing to performing religious rituals during the Holy Month. With it being a widely enjoyed month by people from all around, let’s go through this trip and see how different countries welcomed the holy month of Ramadan.

UAE

The beautiful streets of the UAE have been lit up with different decorations and lanterns and Ramadan Kareem signs that adds to the amazing spirit that this month creates. The people of the UAE are delighted to be able to perform their Prayers in Mosques, after it was not allowed during Ramadan last year due to the lockdown and safety restrictions and rules that were applied. With all the precautionary measures being taken in Mosques such as social distancing and masks, worshippers can perform their Tarawih Prayers not exceeding the time limit of 30 minutes. Restaurants, shopping malls, and different tourist attractions work for late hours during Ramadan, offering entertaining activities that reflect the various traditions of this Month.

Saudi Arabia

After the sadness that filled up a lot of people for not being able to visit the Grand Mosque in Makkah and suspension of Umrah due to COVID last year, we are happy to be seeing devoted worshippers being able to go there and perform their religious rituals. People can enter the Grand Mosque in Makkah with following all the precautionary measures and only if they are Vaccinated and have been allowed permission through the specified application made for Umrah permits. You will find small family gatherings over the Iftar Table, with signature Saudi dishes like Kabsah, Samosas, and let’s not forget the Arabic coffee and Dates.

Egypt

If you walk through the streets of Egypt, you will be hearing firecrackers that are used to celebrate the arrival of the holy month. Various decorations are hanging in the streets and the sound of classical Egyptian Ramadan songs are played in every corner. Luckily for people this year, Prayers can be performed in Big Mosques all around the country while maintaining social distance between all worshipers. 

Iraq

The Happiness radiates off the houses of Iraq while families and loved ones are gathered to be together on the first day of Ramadan. People around the streets are taking pictures of decorations while feeling the joy that comes with the holy month.

Turkey

Known for its beautiful Islamic Architecture, you will find Ramadan decorations and Illuminations around the Marvelous Mosques of Istanbul. People would break their fast when the sun sets with freshly baked bread, then would proceed to eat a light meal. Some of the amazing sweets that are loved by the Turkish people during this time is the delicious Baklava and the sweet Turkish delights!

Indonesia

It’s a spiritual Ramadan for Muslims celebrating in Jakarta with people being allowed to go to Mosques to perform daily prayers with precautionary measures. Mosques are filled with devoted worshipers wearing beautiful traditional praying clothes with colorful designs.

Malaysia

As for people in Kuala Lumpur, they are abiding by precautionary instructions and are practicing socially distanced prayers in the wide-Open areas of mosques.
