Mexican actress Melissa Barrera was fired from the upcoming movie 'Scream 7' over her comments on the Israeli attacks in Gaza

In one post, Barrera wrote "Gaza is currently being treated like a concentration camp. Cornering everyone together, with nowhere to go, no electricity no water … People have learnt nothing from our histories."

Sources have explained that Barrera was fired over one particular caption in her Instagram story, where she wrote "Western media only shows the [Israeli] side. Why do they do that, I will let you deduce for yourself.”

The post was considered to have "floated an antisemitic trope that Jews control the media", according to the sources.

Scream Franchise

Melissa Barrera joined the Scream franchise in 2022 and led the franchise's fifth and sixth films, alongside 'Wednesday' star Jenna Ortega.

There were reports that Ortega left the 'Scream 7' film in support of Barrera's departure, however, Ortega has left the film because of the conflict in her schedule with the filming of Season 2 of the famous Netflix series 'Wednesday'.

Ortega's departure has nothing to do with her stance on the conflict in Gaza.
