The Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority has installed intelligent speed limit signs equipped with a smart speed detection system in sensitive areas of the city.
These areas are school zones, residential areas, and pedestrian crossings.
This step comes within the framework of improving road safety to help ensure the safety of all road users.
The new signs aim to encourage drivers to stay within the safe speed limits, reducing the risk of accidents in sensitive areas.
The smart signs check the actual speed of the passing vehicle and display colour coding and facial expressions.
When a vehicle travels within the safe speed range, the sign displays green with a smiling face, but if a driver exceeds the speed limit, the sign turns red with a frowning look.
