Major religious institutions across Dubai have announced temporary closures until further notice, following directives from authorities citing safety and security concerns.

Among the affected sites are Guru Nanak Darbar Gurudwara, Hindu Temple Dubai, and Shri Krishna Temple, all of which confirmed suspensions of in-person visits and prayers.

Authorities cite safety and security

In a statement to devotees, the management of Hindu Temple Dubai said: “The Hindu Temple Dubai will remain closed until further notice for safety and security reasons.”

The temple administration apologised for the inconvenience and urged worshippers to cooperate, adding prayers for the safety and well-being of all.

Similarly, Surender Singh Kandhari confirmed that Guru Nanak Darbar Gurudwara had received official instructions to close.

"We got instructions from the Community Development Authority in Dubai to close the Gurudwara," he said.

"As a precautionary measure for security reasons, CDA has asked us to close,” he added.

Shri Krishna Temple and churches follow

Shri Krishna Temple also announced its temporary closure, stating it would remain shut from Friday, April 3, 2026, until further notice in line with official directives.

"The Management apologises for the inconvenience caused and requests the devotees' understanding and cooperation. Prayers for everyone's safety and well-being," the temple said.

The closures come alongside similar measures taken by churches across Dubai, many of which suspended in-person services, including Good Friday gatherings, under the same guidance.

Several congregations shifted to livestreamed services, while others encouraged worshippers to pray at home.

Devotees gather outside closed sites

Despite the announcements, some worshippers arrived at religious sites unaware of the closures and were seen praying outside the gates.

Authorities have not specified how long the restrictions will remain in place, but the move reflects broader precautionary measures aimed at ensuring public safety and community well-being during ongoing regional developments.
