The UAE has officially launched the Child Media Award 2026, a regional initiative designed to elevate Arabic-language content that supports children’s rights, strengthens positive values, and enriches Arab identity.

Established by Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak under the umbrella of the League of Arab States, the award provides a unified competitive platform for creators across the Arab world. According to officials, the initiative aims to inspire media organisations to produce innovative, high-quality Arabic content that addresses children’s issues and promotes constructive messaging.

As the first institutional-level Arab award dedicated entirely to children’s media, the Child Media Award fills a long-standing gap in the region. Unlike programs that focus solely on literature or cultural expression, this award targets media in all its forms—helping shape young minds while safeguarding linguistic and cultural heritage.

By prioritising Arabic-language productions, the award reinforces Arab identity and strengthens efforts to preserve the Arabic language. It also highlights the media’s vital role in building awareness and promoting a healthy, positive perception of childhood topics across the region.

The initiative is being launched in cooperation with the Department of Family and Childhood within the Social Affairs Sector of the League of Arab States, and with support from the UAE Media Council. Its development follows a recommendation issued at the 29th session of the Arab Childhood Committee on September 18, 2025.

Entries will undergo a structured evaluation by a specialised judging panel formed jointly with the League’s Media and Communication Sector. The committee ensures a transparent, neutral process aligned with top professional and technical standards.

With the 2026 cycle now open, the UAE hopes the award will not only encourage creative excellence but also serve as a catalyst for meaningful, child-centered media across the Arab world.
