Art Dubai 2026 Postponed to May Amid Regional Tensions

Art Dubai has been postponed to May 2026, as organisers respond to escalating regional tensions that have disrupted events across the Gulf.

Originally scheduled for April, the fair will now take place from May 14 to 17 at Madinat Jumeirah, maintaining its long-standing venue while introducing a revised format.

The decision comes amid ongoing instability linked to the wider conflict in the Middle East, which has led to multiple postponements of major regional events. Organisers said the move followed consultations with stakeholders and reflects the need to ensure continuity while adapting to current challenges.

“This edition will take the form of a more focused and flexible format,” organisers said, outlining plans to bring together galleries, artists and institutions through a mix of presentations, collaborations and public programming rather than a traditional fair structure.

The 2026 edition marks the 20th anniversary of Art Dubai, a key fixture in the region’s cultural landscape and a major platform for contemporary and modern art from the Middle East, Africa and South Asia. Despite the delay, organisers emphasised the importance of maintaining the event as a hub for the regional art ecosystem.

The postponement also reflects broader logistical challenges across the art world, including disruptions to travel, shipping and gallery participation due to the ongoing conflict. Several international events in the region have similarly been rescheduled as uncertainty continues.

More details about participating galleries and programming are expected to be announced in the coming weeks as organisers refine the fair’s adapted format.
