Dubai is accelerating its transformation into a global aviation superpower with the confirmation that the massive expansion of Dubai World Central (DWC), also known as Al Maktoum International, will be seamlessly integrated with the UAE's national rail network. Despite recent regional instability and temporary disruptions to air travel, the strategic roadmap for the airport remains unchanged, with officials confirming that long-term infrastructure plans are proceeding at full speed.
The centerpiece of this vision is a new passenger terminal designed to eventually handle 260 million travelers annually. Additionally, the "Airport Express" initiative promises to link Dubai's major population centers directly to DWC via a high-efficiency rail service, reducing reliance on road transport for long-distance commuters.
