A sombre and emotional scene unfolded on Tuesday afternoon as four young Indian expatriate brothers, who were tragically killed in a car crash in Abu Dhabi, were laid to rest side by side at Al Qusais Cemetery in Dubai.
The boys — Ashaz (14), Ammaar (12), Azzaam (7) and Ayyash (5) — lost their lives in a devastating road accident on Sunday while the family was returning to Dubai from the popular Liwa Festival.
A Heartbreaking Farewell
Hundreds of relatives, friends and members of the Indian expatriate community gathered to pay their respects, offering prayers and support to the grieving family. Many were moved to tears as the funeral prayers were held in both Abu Dhabi and Dubai before the burial.
The boys were the sons of Abdul Latheef and Rukhsana, originally from Kerala, India. Their father, injured and in a wheelchair, attended the funeral, while the mother, still hospitalised with injuries, was informed of the tragedy with the support of a counselling team before the funeral arrangements.
Tragedy on the Road
The fatal accident occurred early Sunday morning on the Abu Dhabi–Dubai highway when the family’s vehicle overturned. Three of the boys and the family’s domestic worker, Bushra Fayaz Yahu (49), died at the scene, while Azzaam later succumbed to his injuries in hospital on Monday evening.
The parents and the couple’s only daughter, 10-year-old Izzaa, continue to receive medical care in Abu Dhabi.
Community Support
Social workers and extended family members were involved in arranging the funeral services and ensuring that the mother’s wishes, including a final viewing of her sons, were fulfilled. Authorities granted special approval for the burial in Dubai, where the family had been living and where many relatives reside.
The tragic loss has resonated deeply across the Indian community in the UAE, with many offering condolences and support to the parents during this incredibly difficult time.
The boys’ burial, attended with deep sorrow and solidarity, marks a poignant moment of collective mourning as friends, neighbours and fellow expatriates gather to honour their memories.
