His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has issued an Emiri Decree appointing Her Highness Sheikha Hoor bint Sultan Al Qasimi as President of the newly established University of the Arts Sharjah, marking a significant milestone for arts and cultural education in the UAE.
The decree follows the official establishment of the University of the Arts Sharjah, a specialised higher education institution dedicated to creative disciplines, cultural studies, and artistic innovation. The university aims to nurture emerging talent while strengthening Sharjah’s position as a regional and global hub for arts and culture.
Her Highness Sheikha Hoor is widely recognised for her leadership in the cultural sector. She serves as President and Director of the Sharjah Art Foundation, where she has played a key role in shaping Sharjah’s international arts profile through major exhibitions, residencies, and public programmes.
Under her presidency, the University of the Arts Sharjah is expected to offer a forward‑looking academic framework that blends artistic practice, critical theory, and cultural research, while fostering collaboration with regional and international creative institutions.
