Indian Shop Manager Wins AED20M in Big Ticket Draw

An Indian store manager based in Muscat has hit the jackpot, winning AED 20 million in the latest Big Ticket draw held in Abu Dhabi, marking another life-changing moment in the long-running raffle series.

Shanthanu Shettigar, a 33-year-old retail manager originally from the southern Indian state of Karnataka, regularly entered the Big Ticket draw with a close friend, and this time, their patience paid off. The pair bought the winning ticket for the monthly grand prize draw held on February 3, and will share the AED 20 million windfall, receiving AED 10 million each.

“I was honestly speechless,” Shettigar said after learning of the win, describing his overwhelming joy at hearing his name announced during the live event. He has lived and worked in Muscat, Oman for around eight years, and had been playing the lottery for about five years with his friend before their big success.

The Big Ticket raffle, one of the UAE’s most popular lottery draws, offers participants the chance to win multimillion-dirham prizes each month. Tickets cost AED 500 and are available online as well as at sales outlets including Zayed International and Al Ain airports.

Participants from across the region have scooped significant prizes in recent years, reflecting the draw’s appeal among expatriate communities.

Shettigar said he and his friend were still processing the life-altering news and had not yet decided how they would spend their share of the winnings. For now, the surprise and excitement of becoming Big Ticket millionaires is beginning to sink in for the retail manager and his companion.

With another Big Ticket draw scheduled for March, offering yet another chance at a multimillion-dirham grand prize, hopeful participants across the UAE and beyond will be watching eagerly.
