Lebanese economist Professor Badi Hani has been awarded the Great Arab Minds Award in the economics category, recognising his influential contributions to econometrics and economic research.
The award, part of the UAE’s Great Arab Minds initiative, honours Arab scholars and innovators who have made a significant global impact across science, research, and culture. Professor Hani was recognised for his pioneering work in panel data analysis, a statistical approach widely used to study economic trends and inform policy decisions.
Professor Hani is currently a professor of economics at Syracuse University in the United States. He has authored more than 200 academic papers and written Econometric Analysis of Panel Data, a key reference text used by economists and researchers around the world.
In addition to his academic work, he has delivered training and lectures at major international institutions, including the International Monetary Fund and the European Central Bank, contributing to the development of economic analysis globally.
The Great Arab Minds initiative, launched under UAE leadership, aims to celebrate exceptional Arab talent across fields such as economics, medicine, engineering, and natural sciences. Professor Hani’s recognition highlights the growing global influence of Arab researchers and their role in advancing scientific and economic knowledge.
