Lebanese Writer Wins Greater Arab Minds Award for Literature

Lebanese scholar and writer Professor Charbel Dagher has been named the 2025 Great Arab Minds Award winner in the Literature and Arts category, recognising his vast and distinguished contributions to Arabic literature, poetry, criticism and the study of Arab arts. 

Dagher, a revered professor of Arabic literature, was celebrated for his decades-long intellectual influence across multiple fields, from poetry, prose and the novel to literary criticism and art history. His scholarship has played a significant role in shaping modern understanding of Arabic literary traditions and cultural expression. Throughout his career, Dagher has authored more than 90 books that have become essential references for scholars and students alike across the Arab world. 

The Great Arab Minds Award — launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai — aims to honour exceptional thinkers, innovators and creators whose work reflects intellectual excellence and cultural impact.

Sheikh Mohammed personally congratulated Professor Dagher in a post on X, praising his profound contributions and urging Arab communities to draw inspiration from their rich civilisational heritage as they work toward a vibrant future. 

Dagher’s recognition underlines the enduring importance of literature and the arts in shaping societies, fostering intercultural dialogue and sustaining cultural identity.
