UAE Announces 9-Day Eid Al Adha 2026 Holiday for Schools

The UAE Ministry of Education has officially announced a nine-day holiday for schools, coinciding with the Eid Al Adha celebrations and the midterm break for the third academic term.

The break is scheduled to run from Monday, May 25, to Friday, May 29, 2026, for both students and administrative and teaching staff. When combined with the preceding and succeeding weekends, the continuous holiday period extends to nine days, providing a significant pause in the academic calendar.

This schedule is part of the ministry's approved academic calendar for the third and final term of the current academic year. The break serves as the first major respite before the commencement of the final assessment period, offering students a crucial opportunity to rest and recharge before facing key academic milestones. Following the holiday, students are scheduled to return to school on Monday, June 1, to resume their studies for the remainder of the term.

The post-holiday period is marked by rigorous academic preparation. Mock examinations are set for June 15 and 16, designed to assess students' readiness for final exams and identify specific areas requiring improvement. These assessments will allow schools to provide targeted support to students at the most appropriate time. Additionally, the calendar designates June 17 as an official holiday for the Islamic New Year.

The most critical phase of the academic year follows immediately after, with end-of-term examinations scheduled to run from June 24 through July 3. This period is dedicated to evaluating student performance across all grade levels. July 3 has been designated as the last official school day for students, marking the formal conclusion of the academic year.

To ensure academic standards are met, the ministry has arranged for makeup examinations for the third term from July 6 to 9. These sessions provide students who were unable to complete subjects successfully with another chance to meet passing requirements. End-of-year results will be analyzed and released on July 12 and 13, giving students and parents early access to outcomes before re-sit examinations, which are scheduled from July 14 to 17. Re-sit results are expected to be announced on July 20.

Parallel to these student activities, the ministry has allocated the period from July 13 to 17 for specialized training programs for administrative and teaching staff. These programs aim to enhance professional skills and improve workforce readiness for the upcoming academic year. Summer leave for staff will commence on July 18, following the completion of all examination, result, and training responsibilities. The entire academic cycle will formally conclude with the final analysis and release of re-sit results on July 20.
