UAE Announces Ramadan 2026 Working Hours for the Private Sector

As the holy month of Ramadan 2026 approaches, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has announced the official working hours for private sector employees across the United Arab Emirates.

Under the new guidelines, private sector workers will have their daily working hours reduced by two hours during Ramadan, offering employees more time to rest and observe fasting while maintaining a balanced work schedule.

The ministry also emphasised that companies have the flexibility to implement remote or flexible work arrangements, so long as they stay within the limits of the reduced daily hours. This provision allows employers to adjust work patterns based on business needs and the nature of each job role.

Ramadan is expected to begin in the UAE and across the Arab world around February 18 or 19, 2026, with the exact start determined by the traditional sighting of the crescent moon.

In addition to changes for the private sector, public sector employees and schools have also been scheduled for shorter hours throughout the month, reflecting the broader national approach to accommodate fasting and spiritual observances.

The adjustment to working hours underscores the UAE’s efforts to support well-being and work–life balance during Ramadan, allowing both Muslim and non-Muslim employees to adapt their routines and respect the cultural rhythms of the holy month.

As Ramadan nears, authorities and businesses alike are expected to finalise operational arrangements, ensuring a smooth transition into the adjusted schedule that harmonises professional commitments with traditional practices.
