UAE Announces Travel Ban to Iran, Iraq, and Lebanon

The UAE's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) has officially announced a comprehensive travel ban prohibiting UAE nationals from traveling to the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Lebanese Republic, and the Republic of Iraq. The decision comes in response to escalating regional disturbances that pose potential risks to citizen safety.

In addition to restricting new travel, the Ministry has issued an urgent advisory calling on all UAE citizens currently present in these three countries to depart immediately and return to the UAE at the earliest possible opportunity.

"As part of the UAE's commitment to monitoring the wellbeing of its citizens abroad and ensuring their safety, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasises the importance of adhering to its issued guidelines and advisories," the statement read.

Emergency Contact Protocol

UAE nationals currently in Iran, Lebanon, and Iraq have been instructed to contact the Ministry directly for assistance and guidance. The dedicated emergency hotline number provided is +971 800 44444.

"These measures are taken as part of the precautionary steps implemented by the UAE to safeguard its citizens," the Ministry explained in its official announcement.

Regional Context

While the Ministry did not specify the exact nature of the regional disturbances prompting this decision, such travel advisories typically reflect heightened security concerns, potential conflict zones, or diplomatic tensions that could endanger civilian populations.

The UAE has historically maintained strong diplomatic relations across the Middle East, making this travel restriction a significant development that underscores the gravity of the current situation.

What This Means for Travelers

  • No new travel permitted to Iran, Iraq, or Lebanon for UAE nationals
  • Immediate departure recommended for citizens already in these countries
  • Emergency support available through MoFA hotline
  • Compliance with advisories strongly emphasized by authorities

The Ministry continues to monitor the situation closely and may update these advisories as conditions evolve.
