The UAE has lifted the three-year ban on Emiratis from travelling to Lebanon, according to a joint statement released on Thursday, May 1.
The decision was announced after Lebanese President Joseph Aoun met with UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed in Abu Dhabi.
The statement read, "The two sides agreed to allow travel for citizens by implementing necessary procedures and mechanisms to ease movement between the two countries."
The travel ban was implemented by the UAE in 2021. The UAE Embassy reopened in Beirut in January this year after its closure in 2021.
During the meeting with H.H. Sheikh Mohamed and President Joseph Aoun, they discussed how to strengthen bilateral relations and to develop the economic and investment sectors.
Both leaders also agreed to establish a joint UAE-Lebanon Business Council. The Abu Dhabi Fund for Development will send a delegation to Lebanon to explore the possibilities of joint ventures.
