The UAE is set to step back in time this month as “The 90s”, the country’s first large-scale vintage-themed event, opens in Sharjah. The immersive pop-culture experience will run from February 12 to March 1 at the Sharjah Research, Technology & Innovation Park (SRTIP), welcoming visitors daily from 4 p.m. to 12 a.m.
Billed as a journey into one of pop culture’s most iconic decades, the event promises far more than nostalgia décor. Organisers have confirmed a packed line-up of attractions, including an outdoor cinema, arcade games, and old-school gaming consoles that defined childhoods in the 1990s. Fans will also be able to browse pop-up stores by local businesses, turning the venue into a lively retro marketplace.
Food will be a major part of the experience, with themed restaurants inspired by 90s culture offering concepts that span Asian, American and Mexican flavours, alongside coffee and sweets counters designed to complete the throwback vibe. The aim, organisers say, is to recreate the sights, sounds and tastes of the decade in one walkable, family-friendly space.
One of the standout features will be a “Wall of Memories,” showcasing childhood items, photos and moments from the 90s, giving visitors a chance to reconnect with shared experiences from the era. The installation is designed to be both a visual archive and an interactive nostalgia stop for guests of all ages.
Marketed as “a world of memories loading,” the event is being positioned as a first-of-its-kind vintage celebration in the UAE, blending entertainment, food, shopping and culture in a single destination.
More programming details are expected to be announced closer to opening, but organisers say the focus is on creating an experience that appeals both to those who grew up in the 90s and to younger visitors curious about the decade’s influence.
With Sharjah’s SRTIP hosting the month-long run, “The 90s” is shaping up to be one of the most talked-about lifestyle events of the season, offering a full-scale throwback complete with cinema nights, games, comfort food and a walk through memory lane.
