The first person, who was behind the wheel during the accident, is accused of running over the victim and fleeing the scene without offering help or calling emergency services. Authorities confirmed that the accident was caused by reckless driving, carelessness, and complete disregard for other road users.
The second individual, a garage owner, was arrested for illegally repairing the damaged vehicle involved in the crash. Under UAE law, garages are not allowed to fix vehicles involved in accidents unless they receive proper clearance from the relevant traffic authority.
Senior Advocate General Counsellor Salah Bu Farousha Al Falasi, head of Dubai Traffic Prosecution, urged all drivers to remain alert and follow traffic regulations. He stressed that fleeing the scene of an accident that causes injury is a serious crime, except in cases of extreme and justifiable emergency.
According to the latest amendments to the UAE Traffic Law, drivers involved in such accidents must report the incident to the authorities within three hours. Failing to do so, or attempting to cover up the crime, will lead to strict legal action.
