Fujairah Police have arrested a gang notorious for targeting bank customers, catching the suspects just three hours after their latest robbery — and later discovering they were wanted in another emirate.

According to the police statement, the case began at 10:50 a.m. on Thursday, October 23, when a woman filed a report claiming she had been robbed of Dh195,000 in what authorities described as a “clever scheme.”

The victim explained that the suspects deceived her by claiming there was an issue with her car’s rear tire. When she stepped out to inspect it, one of the thieves opened the opposite door and stole the money before fleeing the scene.

An image released by Fujairah Police shows the woman checking her car while the theft was carried out behind her back.

The police swiftly formed a specialised investigation team that tracked down the culprits and gathered intelligence on their movements. Within three hours, the suspects were identified and found to be wanted for similar crimes in another emirate. In coordination with Sharjah Police, the gang was apprehended and referred to the competent authorities for legal action.

Authorities urged residents to remain vigilant when leaving banks, avoid engaging with strangers, and report any suspicious behaviour immediately to help prevent such crimes.

This latest incident follows a string of high-profile cases handled by Fujairah Police in recent months. In September, two Asian men were sentenced to life imprisonment for smuggling 925 narcotic tablets through Fujairah International Airport. Meanwhile, in June, a local court upheld a six-month jail sentence against a man convicted of sorcery and privacy violations after sharing his wife’s private photos with an alleged “spiritual healer” via WhatsApp.

The Fujairah Police reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring public safety and maintaining security across the emirate.
