Inclusivity just got a major glow-up — and it’s happening on the shores of Abu Dhabi.

A new 1,000-square-meter beach zone near Gate 3 of the Abu Dhabi Corniche has officially opened as a visually impaired-exclusive beach, offering a thoughtfully designed, secure space for relaxation and water access.

It’s the first of its kind in the UAE and has already earned Disability-Friendly Beach status from the World Disability Union — a massive win for accessible travel in the region.

So, what makes it special?

The beach is equipped with every detail you could imagine — and then some — to support visually impaired visitors with independence, safety, and comfort. We’re talking:

  • Guidance paths paved with tactile tiles.

  • Braille signage explaining how to use the beach and swim zone.

  • Audio cues from bells and a guiding rope to safely lead swimmers to the water.

  • Trained lifeguards and a dedicated nurse on duty daily.

  • Floating wheelchairs, accessible walkways, and even free transportation to and from the beach for People of Determination and seniors.

And yes — entry is free for visually impaired guests and one companion.

Open daily from 6 a.m. to midnight (with swimming allowed until sunset), this new beach is more than just a sunny spot — it’s a huge step forward in inclusive tourism and public access in the Gulf.

By incorporating global accessibility standards into real-life design, Abu Dhabi is setting a precedent for what it means to create welcoming public spaces that serve everyone — and we’re seriously here for it.

Whether you’re a local or visiting the capital, this beach proves that inclusivity isn’t just a buzzword — it’s a blueprint.
