Dubai Officials Visit Indian Father Who Lost Four Sons in Crash
Heartfelt Azza gathering at Al Warqa Mosque shows solidarity as officials and neighbors console grieving father.
Dubai came together on Thursday to support Abdul Latheef, the Indian father who tragically lost all four of his sons in a car accident on the Abu Dhabi–Dubai road earlier this week. Hundreds attended an Azza condolence gathering at Al Warqa Grand Mosque, offering prayers, sympathy, and moral support.
Officials Show Personal Compassion
Senior officials from Dubai Municipality and Dubai Police personally visited Abdul Latheef, who remained in a wheelchair due to injuries from the crash. Their presence helped expedite funeral arrangements and gave the family reassurance during an emotionally overwhelming time.
"It was moving to see officials come in person, not just handle paperwork, but share in the family’s grief," said a social worker present at the gathering.
The boys’ mother, Rukhsana, remains hospitalized in Abu Dhabi, while their only surviving child, 10-year-old Izzaa, has been discharged.
Funeral Arrangements and Family Support
The crash claimed the lives of Ashaz, 14; Ammaar, 12; Azzaam, seven; and Ayyash, five, along with the family’s domestic worker, Bushra Fayaz Yahu, 49. Three of the boys and Bushra died instantly, while Azzaam succumbed to injuries later. The children were laid to rest side by side at Al Qusais Cemetery in Muhaisnah.
Dubai officials coordinated approvals to ensure smooth funeral procedures, despite the family’s residence visas being issued in Ras Al Khaimah. Community members, friends, neighbors, and strangers came throughout the day to offer condolences.
Emotional Hospital Scenes
Earlier, at the Abu Dhabi hospital, staff and senior executives gathered to support the parents as they viewed their sons for the last time. Hospital staff noted it was an unprecedented act of compassion, as bodies were brought back from the morgue for a final family viewing.
Tragedy Strikes on Return From Liwa Festival
The accident occurred in the early hours of Sunday while the family was returning from the Liwa Festival. Abdul Latheef and Rukhsana had decided to drive late at night to prepare their children for school, unaware that the journey would end in unimaginable loss.
Through the Azza gatherings and the personal efforts of Dubai officials, the community has come together to provide the grieving father and his family with support and comfort during one of the darkest moments of their lives.
