A group of suspects has been arrested on allegations that they cultivated narcotic plants in their residential building in Sharjah.

A responsible person in the residential buildings reported seeing what appeared to be drug plants while performing maintenance on the building's air conditioning units, and Sharjah Police conducted a raid on the flat as a result.

The police have found a fully furnished tent nursery housing the alleged six narcotic plants.

Additionally, equipment and supplies used to plant drugs and psychoactive substances were also seized by the police.

The suspects had the flat ready for growing drugs with the intention of trafficking, according to the Public Prosecution's investigations, which are still underway.

It has not been disclosed the type of narcotic plants.

The Public Prosecution noted that Federal Law Decree No. 30 of 2021 on combatting narcotics and psychotropic substances declares the cultivation of drug plants to be a crime punishable by law.
