Sharjah tenants, this is your sign to clear out that expired lease paperwork — the government’s giving you a major break.

Starting November 1 until December 31, 2025, the Sharjah Executive Council is rolling out a special settlement for old, unauthorised lease contracts signed before Law No. (5) of 2024 came into effect.

What’s the deal?

If you’ve got an expired contract that wasn’t certified before September 19, 2024, you’re eligible for:

  • A 50% discount on authentication fees, and

  • A full waiver on administrative fines for failing to register your lease.

This applies to all types of leases — residential, commercial, industrial, and investment — so basically everyone gets a slice of this relief.

Why it matters

The move aims to make it easier for tenants and landlords to comply with Sharjah’s updated leasing laws without added financial strain. It’s also part of the emirate’s wider effort to keep the housing and business rental sectors in check while supporting residents.

More good news from the meeting

During the same meeting, chaired by Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, the Council also gave the green light to the Hasad Center project — a new hub that will boost food security and support local farmers by collecting, distributing, and promoting Sharjah-grown fruits and vegetables.

The Council also reviewed plans for the 54th UAE National Day celebrations, focusing on unity, culture, and national pride.

Big picture

All these initiatives reflect Sharjah’s ongoing mission — to make life a little easier for its residents while fueling growth across key sectors. It’s all in line with the vision of Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Ruler of Sharjah.
