Good news for Indian expats in the UAE — several Indian curriculum schools are giving students a four-day Diwali weekend. Some schools are closing from Friday, October 17, and reopening Tuesday, October 21, while others will break from Saturday to Wednesday. Either way, families are getting extra time to celebrate, travel, or just unwind during the festival of lights.

Schools Join the Celebration

Our Own Indian School in Dubai confirmed the holiday with a cheerful message to parents, wishing everyone a happy Diwali and announcing closures on October 17 and 20. Other schools, like Woodlem Park School and Credence High School, are following suit — aligning schedules so families can enjoy the festival together.

Spirit of Light and Togetherness

Before the break, campuses are buzzing with Diwali energy. Students are dressing in ethnic wear, decorating halls, and taking part in cultural events. Teachers are also joining in with staff lunches and festive performances. In Abu Dhabi, Shining Star International School has planned assemblies and card-making sessions to keep the spirit alive.

A Bright Pause

For many families, this long weekend isn’t just a break — it’s a chance to reconnect, recharge, and celebrate community. As the lights shine across homes and halls, the message is clear: Diwali in the UAE is all about warmth, unity, and good vibes.
