The existence of massive stone blocks that submerge under the Mediterranean Sea, off the coast of North Egypt, once again brings up the importance of a monument that has been celebrated in antiquity. These submerged structures, some weighing as much as 80 tons, there is a strong opinion that they were remains of the legendary Lighthouse of Alexandria, a structure that was once among the seven wonders of the Ancient World. The find does provide physical information on a rarity about a wonder that has long been referred to in historical publications.
