Hamza's donation is equivalent to 136 hours of his prison labor as a porter/janitor within the prison walls. Working for a mere 13 cents per hour, Hamza's donation represents his entire life savings.

Mashouf's social media post about Hamza's donation resonated deeply with advocates, prompting an outpouring of support. Hamza’s generosity led to the creation of a GoFundMe campaign, aiming to provide financial assistance for Hamza's upcoming release. Surpassing its initial goal of $15,000, the campaign quickly gathered over $100,000 in donations within a single day.

Hamza’s Prison Journey

In the 80s, during his teenage, Hamza's tragic mistake led to the death of his loved one, resulting in more than 40 years of imprisonment. After years of pleading for parole, a change in California law regarding parole for minors charged as adults has granted him the opportunity to walk free at the end of March this year.
